Impressionist art was created during 1860 to 1900 in France. Impressionism is based on what we see and what we feel. The artists painted art by using brush strokes and by putting their feelings into the painting with a lot of color. They put their own ideas into their art to look more creative to the people. The Salon rejected Impressionist art because the artists used naked women. This made impressionist artists angry, and Napoleon allowed Manet to start at Cafe Guerbois to made impressionists come together in a group. In April 1874 impressionists became organized in a salon and independent to the public. When Louis Leroy looked Manet’s art work, he thought his own work was horrible, and he said, "Wallpaper in its embryonic state is more finished!" He felt Manet’s art was great and a new start in the world.
